This weekend marks two years since our official launch in March 2015

Local, independent bike company Bristol Bicycles celebrates its second anniversary of trading this weekend. Since launching on 25 March 2015, over 450 bikes have been hand-built by sister company Jake’s Bikes in Bristol city centre.

The hybrid bikes are designed for commuters who need a reliable and practical bike, ditching the gimmicks for quality components at an affordable price. Customers can choose from the classic Park Street (including a step-through option), the smaller Stokes Croft and the new Touring model.

Bristol Bicycles was set up with a goal to get more people cycling for a healthier, greener city. So far over 130 of the bikes have been procured and are being used by local businesses, including Bristol City Council, Hewlett Packard Enterprise Bristol office and 111 bikes on loan to students at the University of the West of England. Bristol Bicycles are also popular for cycle hire at Jake’s Bikes, with over 1,000 hires since the bikes were launched.

Jake Voelcker, founder of Jake’s Bikes and designer of Bristol Bicycles said: "It’s been an incredible two years, we’ve been amazed at the level of demand. With our experience of servicing and repairing bikes for commuters, we know what makes a good city bike and we’d proud of what we’ve achieved with Bristol Bicycles. We have some exciting plans for the future, including the launch of an electric bike later this year."

To thank customers for their support over the past 2 years, owners of a Bristol Bicycle are invited to take part in a family-friendly cycle ride led by Jake on Saturday 22 April. A limited number of Bristol Bicycles hire bikes will also be available (pre-booking required).

To arrange a test ride of a Bristol Bicycles model call 0117 329 7363. Members of the public who sign up to the Bristol Bicycles newsletter before 30 April 2017 will be entered into a competition to win a brand new bike.
